Maintenance

Humidity

Wood naturally expands in warm humid air and contracts in cold dry air. Avoid extreme temperature and humidity fluctuations in your home, as this can stress the material, cause cracking, and damage the joinery. You can create the best environment for your wood furniture and millwork by maintaining a steady temperature of 68-72 degrees and making sure your HVAC system is working properly.

Cleaning

For conversion varnish finishes, we recommend periodic cleaning with a mild detergent and a slightly damp cloth. For oil finishes, we recommend regular cleaning with a natural soap specifically formulated for oiled surfaces; the soap will clean and condition the surface at the same time. However, certain specialty finishes will require a unique care protocol, which can be provided by our team upon completion of your project.

Care

Wood is a natural material and will age by darkening over time. This is normal and not a sign of damage. To prevent damage from occurring, avoid exposure to bleach, citrus products, abrasive cleaners, ammonia, dyes or inks, and immediately clean up any liquid spills.
